The school 'Río Segura Archena has been selected along with 22 other schools in the region next year to teach some of their daily commodities in English, which is considered as one of the first schools in the area to offer classes in two languages.
This is a pilot project of the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment of the Autonomous Region to offer bilingual education in the Region of Murcia.
As a pilot this year 2009-2010, 26 children from Primary 1, 'Río Segura (aged 5 and 6 years) Archena receive only 30 percent of subjects in English, ie English, Environmental Awareness and Arts students will learn its contents in English.
For next year, this initiative will expand to children 2 year of primary education and thus progressively to the whole cycle of primary, but they can never teach English in Mathematics and Spanish language, as reported by Onofre Barquero, school director River Segura.
The coordinator of these teachings in English in that school will be Elisabeth Sánchez Rodríguez, current holder of the English department.
