RM EQUO Green Party strongly condemns the attack yesterday by our colleague Toni Gomez affiliate EQUO and known activist for animal rights, by an operator of the bullring in Archena.
Without a word, and as seen in a video posted on social networks, this individual activist hit by the mere fact of taking pictures the body of a bull lying in the street, after bulls in bullfights for Caritas charity.
Because of the attack, the activist was injured in the arm and collarbone.
Since EQUO RM doubly condemn this aggression, first having been held before an act of peaceful protest and for simply capturing an image of a bull, and secondly, for being against a woman, highlighting the sad reality that still exists in our society of gender violence.
The fact that the activists were taking pictures to substantiate a report of the event they knew that did not conform to the provisions in force rules of bullfighting, a circumstance which was communicated to the highest authorities, president and mayor of Murcia, and delegate is given governmental, to which replied that "has always been done".
In EQUO RM believe that both violence against people like animal abuse are two sides of the same coin, reflects a lack of values ​​in a part of our society that must be eradicated as soon as possible.
We hope that from the relevant bodies, appropriate for these attitudes and these acts are not repeated action is taken, and acted with firmness against the aggressor.
