The Ministry of Agriculture and Water, through the General Directorate of Irrigation and Rural Development, has given the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's and other dementias Archena (Arzheina) aid of 9,000 euros from the EU Leader program for the provision of basic services for the economy and rural population.
The aid, granted by agreement with the Local Action Group for Integrated Rural Development of the municipalities of Vega del Segura, has been allocated to the basic equipment needed to provide users of the association about rehabilitation services to alleviate the deterioration of physical and intellectual.
Also contributed to their facilities air conditioners, computers and office equipment.
The office of the association and the gym with the new devices are installed in the old IES Vicente Medina, in premises leased indefinitely by the City of Murcia.
The Director General of Irrigation and Rural Development, Julio Bernal, said that "the lower endowment of some services in rural areas is often due to its small population."
However, he added, "we are working to alleviate the territorial differentiation between urban and rural areas, giving the latter the necessary services for their development."
Funding for this project comes from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), which contributes 75 percent of the amount.
The remaining 25 percent is co-financed by the Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
