The councilors of Staff, Administration and Public Works, Andrew Moon, and Planning and Safety, Andres Rodriguez, received few days ago the members of the European Exchange Program for Teachers "Regio" in the boardroom of the City of Archena.
The councilors welcomed Maria Luisa Iglesias, Head of European Programmes, as representative of the Ministry of Education, members of the IES Carlos and the College of Our Lady of Bethlehem in Murcia, the Band School Torres Vedras and a city councilor of Torres Vedras , of Portugal.
Comenius Regio is a new action of the Lifelong Learning Programme which aims to support and encourage cooperation between local and regional authorities and agencies throughout Europe.
The objective of this activity is to enhance the European dimension of education by encouraging cooperation activities between local and regional authorities with a role in education in Europe.
It is established bilateral partnerships between education authorities, schools and other stakeholders from different regions to work together on issues of common interest to improve the educational opportunities of children of school age.
Projects may focus on the management of schools, integration of immigrant students, ways to prevent early school leaving, and so on.
E include different kinds of actions such as personnel exchanges, teacher training, study visits, meetings, etc..
