The first of the seminars on the expulsion of the Moorish Ricote Valley was held during the day today in Murcia with the assistance of many university students and teachers from both the University of Murcia and other regions.
The day began with a morning reception in the City Council by the Councillor and Deputy Mayor, Andres Rodriguez, the speakers of the afternoon, students of the subject of the universities of Murcia, Rio de Janeiro and Paris.
About six o'clock, began the session of talks, in charge of the speakers, Ronald Raminelli, University of Rio de Janeiro and Bernard Vincent, of Paris.
Presented by Carmen Gonzalez, a professor at the UMU.
The event was inaugurated by the Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Magdalena Ortiz.
This event is for Murcia, in the words of Councilman Andres Rodriguez, "a recognition of our culture, our history and learning to not fall into the mistakes of the past."
Dr. Bernal Vincent stressed that the main theme was "reflecting on the exiles in general, and particularly so little known aspects of the exiles who have settled in Spain in the past, where not known, but there was a reverse very remarkable ".
The doctor also wanted to emphasize that even Cervantes in Don Quixote, he alluded to a Jew named 'Ricote', in terms of Moorish settlement.
It is an example to follow, as the doctor himself Bernal, the way it was then in exile, where the Moors were constantly allusions to Spanish love of country and so were allowed to live in peace in our land.
The seminar is expected to be annual and more importantly will culminate in an international meeting in 2014.
