As a first temporary exhibition has chosen a selection of the artist's work Inocencio Medina Vera, owned by the Autonomous Community
Local Archena Museum opened its doors today to show a detailed look at the history of the town, as well as the life and work of the most illustrious of the town, as the writer and playwright and painter Vicente Medina Medina Innocent Vera.
The president of the Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, accompanied by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, the mayor of Archena, Marcos Manuel Sanchez, inaugurated the new cultural units, which represents an investment of 1,268,948 euros, financed between the regional administration, the City and Cajamurcia.
Met and said the president, with the desire of all the neighbors to have a unique building, blends in the territory, which includes all the important historical legacy.
This museum is located on the right bank of the River Segura, in a building distributed into four modules, with a large glass area through which you can see the river and providing high brightness.
The first module has a reception area and a visitor services area, which includes a multipurpose hall for cultural activities, in addition to administrative and service spaces of the museum itself.
In the second module contains the archaeological remains of the late neolithic site of old heads, the oldest of the excavated so far in the locality, with particular reference to the Iberian and materials of the head of Uncle Pio.
The journey through history continues with the period of expulsion of the Moors and other references of interest in the locality, such as a spa since Roman times.
In the museum you can see also the Town Charter Township 1462, the vestiges of the presence of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, which marked the history of Archena since the thirteenth century, and the hydraulic devices of medieval times.
In the third module, visitors can find references to the main social and political events of the municipality in the XVIII-XX, especially on those episodes that had an outstanding impact, such as the War of Independence or the Civil War when the city was also home to a Russian air base and a tank school.
In this last area includes a special section aimed at archeneros illustrious figure as Inocencio Medina Vera painter and writer and playwright Vicente Medina.
Temporary exhibitions
Finally, the fourth module is equipped to house temporary exhibitions designed to stimulate cultural activity in the municipality.
As a first temporary exhibition, which serves both the museum's opening, we have chosen a selection of the artist's work Inocencio Medina Vera, owned by the Autonomous Community, entitled 'Outline of an era: the drawings of Medina Vera'
The exhibition includes a selection of 75 drawings and sketches of the painter of genre scenes Murcia or Madrid, as well as his love of bullfighting.
Medina Vera collaborated with leading news media of his time with his drawings and cartoons.
