A doctor archenera specializing in Rare Diseases and Unit Head of Medical Genetics, Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca of Murcia, Encarna Guillén, received by HRH the Princess of Asturias Award of Special Autonomy the Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases in the Senate of Spain.
To Dr. Guillen, plus parents and siblings, also accompanied him Archena Mayor, Manuel Marcos Sánchez Cervantes.
According to sources within the Senate, HRH the Princess of Asturias presided over the ceremony yesterday morning in the Senate on the occasion of the celebration of World Day of rare diseases.
The event also involved the President of the Senate, Javier Rojo, the Minister of Health, Social Policy and Equality, Leire Pajin, the Minister for Science and Innovation, Cristina Garmendia and the President of the Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases (ERDF), Isabel Calvo.
Throughout the event, HRH The Princess of Asturias presented the other prizes ERDF to the following people and institutions:
- Special Prize Day: Manuel Posada de la Paz, Director of the Research Institute for Rare Diseases.
- Ambassador Award for Rare Diseases: Rosa Sanchez de la Vega Garcia, vice president of EURORDIS and member of the Board of ERDF.
- Award solidarity awareness (shared): Andrés Iniesta, football player of FC Barcelona and Pharmacists Without Borders in Spain.
- Prize for solidarity with those affected: State Reference Center of Attention to People with Rare Diseases (BELIEVE) under the IMSERSO.

- Prize for journalism, Spanish Radio and Television.
Benigno Moreno takes the prize Castaño, Director of Radio Nacional of Spain.
- Social Responsibility Award: The Senate of Spain.
