These works, which have received funding over autonomic 600,000 euros, have had the primary objective of upgrading the pedestrian zone
The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, accompanied by the mayor of Archena, Marcos Manuel Sanchez, today inaugurated Antonete Galvez Avenue in the town, following the work carried out by the regional government to improve road safety and communications in the center of Archena.
"The works are not only greater flexibility to access the city center Archena, but also improved communication of the municipality towards the Shire River Mula. It also provides an increase road safety and accessibility for pedestrians, with the construction of sidewalks and crosswalks, removal of architectural barriers and management of intersections, "said the counselor.
With this project in the urban section of the road from Mula, RM-530, which has received funding of 616,542 euros autonomous, have built new sidewalks on both sides of the avenue, and walkways, plus the installation for special non-slip floor.
Also regulated intersections in the area, through the construction of two new roundabouts, pavement strengthening of the whole stretch and installation of new signage, both horizontal and vertical, and the corresponding beacon.
It has also placed a new lighting system and has set up a proper drainage system.
"It is therefore - concluded the Minister - a predominantly urban action, which will facilitate pedestrian and vehicular traffic in an orderly and safe for both groups, while improve nighttime visibility through improved lighting introduced."
