The good results of tourism in Archena during the months of June, July and August confirm the important role that the sector has as one of the main drivers of our economy, said Archena Mayor Patricia Fernández.

According to the data provided by the Municipal Tourism Office, there is a significant increase in visitors to the municipality of Archena in relation to the year 2016. There is a significant increase due to different reasons.

The cultural offer with the different exhibitions made in the Museum of Archena, the implementation of the second year of the Nights of the Museum with its various performances during the month of July and the patron saint festivities have attracted the interest of tourists to visit the municipality , bringing with it a remarkable growth in hotels, restaurants, shops and museums.

Thermal tourism has also played a very important role in tourism growth during those three months, obtaining an occupancy result of 78.0% in June, 81.9% in July and 92.7% in August , being the Spanish tourism that stands out in recent months.

A higher level of occupancy means more profitability and investment incentives for hotels and other service providers such as restaurants, shops and other establishments.

For the Mayor, "these are undoubtedly good results and in order to maintain the good rhythm from the city council will continue to promote actions to consolidate tourism as one of the main sources of well-being of Archena, so is working on different cultural activities for that remains of the year and even to 2018, which goes from diverse and varied activities in the Museum of Archena to outdoor activities in the streets of the municipality. Nor should we forget the recently remodeled Municipal Plaza of Abastos, which will be stage soon of gastronomic activities promoted by our Town Hall ".
