A large concentration of residents of Archena has gathered this afternoon in the Plaza 1 de Mayo, after the call of the City Council, on the occasion of the delivery of the Golden Shield of the Villa, posthumously, to Juan Carlos Maya Palazón, who Died stabbed in the waiting room of the Hospital de Molina de Segura.
Before proceeding to the delivery of this institutional distinction, more than 1,500 neighbors manifested peacefully through the main streets of the town until arriving at the plaza of Spain where the delivery to the widow of Juan Carlos, Maria Dolores Lopez.
The silent march, headed by a banner where one could 'We Are All Juan Carlos', was carried by Mayor Patricia Fernández, Family Counselor, Violante Tomás, Secretary of the Family Counseling, Manuel Marcos Sánchez, Popular Spokesperson for The Regional Assembly, Víctor Martínez, relatives and co-workers of the deceased.
In the act of delivery next to the building, the first municipal councilor addressed a few words to the audience, stating that "it was a simple homage to a person like Juan Carlos who, with his courage, demonstrated his good heart and the delivery of His own life for others. "
He continued in his speech saying that "the citizens of Archena are very good people and that is why we have all accompanied the motto of the banner we are all Juan Carlos, the people of Archena are good people."
During the presentation of this institutional symbol, the Mayor has said that "this tribute is like a souvenir so that the people of Archena never forget the heroic act of Juan Carlos."
The afternoon of the tribute has ended in the same square of the City Hall with another minute of silence, proposed by the Mayor, who has followed a prolonged applause of those present and the delivery of a bouquet of flowers to the widow of the deceased
