The technology developed in the European project Life + Celsius allow the industrial water treatment plant (WWTP) Archena be at the forefront of energy efficiency and combating climate change, as published on the website www.iagua.es .
Led by Acciona Agua, Life + Celsius, in which the Efe Agency participates implemented over three years an innovative system based on savings of 60 percent of the energy required in the process of sewage treatment and production biogas.
This system combines the use of anaerobic technologies which require less oxygen than that used during the actuales- treatments and use of environmental temperature, which allows without extreme heating required in other purification processes.
Being located in one of the warmer areas of Spain, the WWTP of Murcia, operated by Acciona Agua is one of the most conducive to the implementation of this technology, and already has a pilot plant driven by the Ministry of economy and Competitiveness through the project OptiAnMBR
