Archena City Council has received an Award of the Region of Murcia Energy Excellence, namely the category of Performance or Project, by the actions carried out in their heated pool.
On-site heated pool has been set up innovative instrumentation and control system that optimizes the energy consumption it causes.
Based on the combination of solar thermal energy and the use of local biomass systems it requires intelligent management of them so that they can reach optimum performance of the whole.
In this way, the pool and its facilities are perfectly Sensorized, recording 29 information probes that allow to know in every moment, the behavior of the same.
Another of the benefits of the new control system is that allows a remote management, acting on it even if they have a physical presence, from any platform (PC, tablet or mobile phone).
On the other hand, taking advantage of this valuable information is recorded, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, so Archena and pool are contributing to the development of science in relation to the efficient use of resources and renewable energies and the intelligent management of the facility (linked with Archena Be smart).
As a result of this agreement, we have developed the following:
· Communication at the IX National Congress of Thermodynamics Engineering.
· They have been able to validate the mathematical physicist defined by researcher M. Shah Mirza, which allow the energy demand of an indoor swimming pool from their fundamental parameters correlations.
It is the first time that these expressions have been able to validate empirically with data from a real pool during normal operation.
· At this time, they are being developed algorithms that allow the use of predictive controls to optimize the joint operation of the solar system and biomass.
· All these works are serving as the basis for a doctoral thesis.
These works are being developed in collaboration with the Research Group on Modelling of Thermal Systems and Energy UPCT.
