| Cleaning and emptying of scuppers and rainwater collectors begin | The Archena City Council in collaboration with the company Acciona has begun the cleaning and fine-tuning of the more than a hundred scuppers and grids and existing rainwater collection collectors (about 9 kilometers in total) in the municipality of Archena, facing these next days of September and October, favorable months of rains in this area.
The aim is to prevent the water from being obstructed due to grass, brush, and amount of land and existing plants from previous months, in these conduits. For Mayor Patricia Fernández, "it is necessary and imminent to carry out these works in view of the forecast of autumn rains, which are very strong in these areas of the Region, so that the water that falls does not encounter obstacles and thus we reduce possible floods and overflows " The municipal manager of this department will supervise these works, which will be carried out by 7 laborers with 2 suction trucks and 1 truck for collecting dirt and surface waste, and has commented that, shortly, maximum 10 days, the aforementioned scuppers will be completely emptied and cleaned for that, in the event of rains, the water circulates fluently and does not cause floods and overflows. Patricia Fernández has visited this morning, together with Councilors Mario Alcaraz and Anselmo Campuzano, the beginnings of these works in the Ronda del Ope area and has given the precise instructions for this service to be carried out, with guarantees, but within the term of shortest possible time before the rain forecast.
