Almost a hundred countries around the world participate in the 'Global Matrix 4.0' project and its objective is to provide indicators related to the physical activity of children around the world A team of researchers led by the archenero José Francisco López Gil, Doctor from the University of Murcia and the University of Curitiba (Brazil), will prepare the first report of qualifications within the project 'Global Matrix', which has just started its fourth edition.
This report will be directed, planned and prepared by the Archena City Council, in collaboration with distinguished researchers and health professionals from various Murcian institutions. More than 500 researchers from around the world participate in the 'Global Matrix' project, and it is led by the prestigious Canadian researcher Mark Tremblay.
Although participation is generally typical of countries, in this fourth edition the novelty of regional contributions is introduced.
In this sense, the Region of Murcia will carry out its own report on physical activity ratings, being a pioneer in terms of regional inclusion. The Mayor of Archena, Patricia Fernández, has been delighted and stated that "with this project we intend to facilitate a mechanism of public awareness and a call to action through public policies related to the physical activity of children and adolescents." Likewise, the Mayor has declared that "one of the objectives is to prevent or reduce the problem that sedentary lifestyle entails and that leads to chronic diseases in adulthood and old age."
