Today, the new municipal initiative "Archena te Cuida" is launched, with more than 30,000 kg of food and basic necessities to help families from Archena who are experiencing economic difficulties due to the coronavirus crisis.
This project started days ago with a letter from the mayor of Archena, Patricia Fernández, addressed to all the businesses and companies in the Region that remain active, requesting their collaboration through the donation of food and other essential products for daily life.
"I am excited and very grateful for this reaction. In a few hours I already had numerous messages and calls from companies willing to contribute their grain of sand in this solidarity cause," declared the first municipal authority.
In a few days, there are already dozens of companies that have participated in this initiative and the number is expected to increase.
The 'operations center' of this solidarity pantry will be the premises of the Young Space, located on Calle Paraguay;
next to the municipal swimming pool.
However, given such volume of material and the forecast of increase, some companies in the municipality have transferred part of their facilities to store all these products properly.
The project will be coordinated by the Social Services and the Volunteer Plan.
Those people who want to collaborate or need help will be able to contact this municipal department through the telephone number 968-670152.
