Alfombristas from 145 cities in 19 countries will spread the Camino de Santiago during the Xacobeo of 2021 by developing carpets in a worldwide project
With the intention of promoting Xacobeo in 2021, the Management Commission of Alfombrista Entities of the Camino de Santiago has been created.
In which carpets already participate more than one hundred and thirty cities spread over nineteen countries belonging to Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, United States, El Salvador, Ecuador, E, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama , Peru, Poland, Portugal and Spain.
The Management Committee, has as its main objective all those activities aimed at the dissemination, dissemination and promotion of the Camino de Santiago and the tangible and intangible heritage linked to it.
Highlighting the cultural, natural and human wealth of the Camino de Santiago.
This commission will be responsible for including ephemeral art in the celebration of Xacobeo 2021, specifically on its big days, July 24 and 25.
There are twenty months ahead but a lot of previous coordination work to be involved in this collective, multicultural and multilingual project, artists from all over the world.
The carpets prepare two major projects for the next Holy Year.
The first called "Carpets for the Road", which will consist of the realization, from January to June 2021, of different carpets, in each of the roads that converge in Santiago de Compostela, to conclude with another carpet, on 24-25 July in the Santiago square of Obradoiro.
The second project for the Xacobeo 2021 is a "World Carpet" in which all the carpets who want to elaborate in an emblematic place, from each of their locations, integrated in the Management Committee of carpeting entities of the Camino de Santiago, a carpet can participate own, between 24 and July 25, 2021, dedicated to the Camino de Santiago.
The design will be common in each of these locations. However, each carpenter group will carry out that design following their own technique and style, using the materials they prefer and creating that ephemeral tapestry of the size they prefer.
The objective is "To do the same carpet all day, in each of our towns or cities, but jointly on a world scale." It will be a kind of worldwide flashmob of ephemeral art, on the great day of the Apostle Santiago or on his eve
