The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia and the Local Police of Archena have developed an investigation to clarify the causes of a forest fire that took place on March 24 in Archena, which has resulted in the investigation of a minor, who has been instructed diligences as alleged perpetrator of forest fire crime with risk to people.
The events took place during the afternoon of March 24, when a fire broke out in a mountain area on the banks of the Segura River on its way through Archena.
The fire generated social alarm and great expectation that was reflected in a large influx of people in the vicinity of the fire by the size of the flames, smoke and firefighting equipment (helicopter included), besides being a holiday (Sunday ).
The fire reached an extension of approximately 5,000 square meters of river margin and affected reeds, reeds, tarays, poplars, eucalyptus, casuarinas and elms.
The rapid intervention of the extinguishing services prevented the area affected by the fire from reaching greater dimensions.
In the extinction of the fire took part the Consortium of Extinction of Fire and Salvation of the Park of Molina de Segura, a helicopter Puma of extinction of 112, Environmental agents, the Forest Brigade and a technician of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia (CARM) , the Local Police of Archena and the Civil Guard.
The fire was extinguished in less than two hours.
Effective Prevention of Citizen Security of the Benemérita and Archena Local Police initiated a series of inquiries, in order to clarify the facts, which allowed to verify that a member of a group of children who roamed the area had been the one allegedly had set fire to a pile of reeds, leaving all of the area when the fire reached alarming dimensions.
The agents identified the alleged perpetrator, who is a minor, who has finally been investigated as an alleged perpetrator of a forest fire crime with risk to the people.
Fire crime
The current Penal Code establishes, in its article 352, that those who set fire to forests or forests will be punished with prison sentences of one to five years and a fine of twelve to eighteen months.
If there has been a danger to the life or physical integrity of the people, the act will be punished according to the provisions of article 351 prison from ten to twenty years, imposing, in any case, the penalty of a fine of twelve to twenty-four months.
The researched and the diligences instructed have been made available to the Court of Instruction of Cieza and the Office of the Attorney for Minors of Murcia.
