The Mayor of Archena, Patricia Fernández, and the President of the Union of Irrigators Tajo-Segura, Lucas Jiménez, have placed this morning the banner of the 40th Anniversary of the Transfer Tajo-Segura on the main balcony of the building of the City of Archena, as the first act , and the first municipality that initiates it, of the extensive program prepared by this union of irrigators on the occasion of this commemoration and that will be developed throughout this year.
Jimenez explained that the same banners will also be placed in the municipalities that request it in any of the three provinces through which it runs and is irrigated with this aqueduct.
The president of the Tajo-Segura union has assured that there will be activities to be carried out in hospitals, education centers and senior centers and other forums, where the importance of the operation of the transfer for these regions will be exposed.
The banner placed this morning in the archenero municipal balcony, according to Lucas Jiménez, "says a lot because it talks about the unity, the unity that we maintain Murcia, Alicante and Almeria, in the defense of something that we consider fair, such as the Tajo water , which is a basin that belongs to the country, to the Spanish State, and therefore, the inhabitants of Murcia, Alicante and Almeria have the right to be our basin, a deficit basin ".
For her part, the Mayor of Archena said she was satisfied with any initiative or project carried out by this union, "because the transfer involves prosperity, a lot of work and life for the municipality of Archena." Proud because I will continue working along the same lines to defend this important infrastructure that is essential for Archena and for the Region of Murcia and that will always have our support for all actions that have to be done in defense of this work that is still essential for the development of the municipality ".
