In the act, explained that the budgets of the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities in this year will allocate some 700,000 euros to care for the elderly in the municipality.
With this budget, the Murcia Institute of Social Action IMAS has hired 64 places in the day center and the residence 'Nuevo Azahar'.
The prize for the Senior of the Year, in recognition of the person over 65 who has distinguished himself for his work in any area of ​​social, cultural, political, employment or economic life, has been a shared award between Francisco Campoy Lorente and the sisters Isabel and Ángeles Burgos Valcárcel.
For its part, the recognition to the 'Collective more integrating', for its work of promotion and awareness in favor of the integration of the elderly in the local area, has been for the Archena Arzheina Association.
In his speech, the counselor explained that the objective of the actions carried out by the regional government is "to improve the quality of life of the elderly, proposing active aging programs in their social centers, with special attention to vulnerable people."
During this 2018/2019 academic year, active aging continues to be promoted in the IMAS centers.
More than 350 workshops on gerontogimnasia, handicrafts, poetry, theater, painting and intergenerational exchanges are taking place, among others, and there are more than 30,000 older people participating in the Region in one or more activities organized in these workshops.
"They asked us to open the social centers for older people every day of the year, and we are fulfilling it," the counselor recalled.
Currently, there are about 103,000 people over 65 in the Region who are members of these centers.
As for other benefits for this group, the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities has launched a new aid order, amounting to 500,000 euros, to subsidize the acquisition of devices or equipment that improve personal autonomy and quality of life. life of these people.
The beneficiaries will be able to acquire hearing aids, oral treatment, glasses and lenses, in addition to carrying out the adaptation or repair of the habitual residence.
Home help
The Community will also allocate 174,000 euros this year to subsidize the home help service in the municipality.
According to Tomás Violante, "the Autonomous Community is committed to home help as a quality professional service that encourages the creation of employment, which is also provided in Archena." The funding goes to personal care services aimed at promoting autonomy and promoting adequate habits and basic skills, as well as for actions in the home of people in situations of dependency, in order to meet the needs of their daily lives.
These are professional services related to household or household needs: cleaning, washing, cooking or others such as personal attention to dependents.
