The Mayor of Archena, Patricia Fernández, and the General Director of Cultural Assets of the Autonomous Region of Murcia, Juan Antonio Lorca Sánchez, together with the Director of the Regional Restoration Center, visited the parish church of San Juan Bautista to check the current state of the images of La Dolorosa, by the sculptor Juan Gonzalez Moreno, and the carving of the Cristo del Monte Calvario, articulated by the sculptor of Archena, Enrique Salas, both made between 1942-1943.
After the inspection and admiration of the quality of the images, the experts determined by approved the request of the mayor of the need of restoration of these sizes.
The Mayor said that these images will be delivered definitively for restoration, after the procession of this Holy Week with its corresponding brotherhoods.
