The Municipality of Archena also adheres to the Levantine Manifest for Water to guarantee the durability of the Tajo-Segura Aqueduct, among other points (27/11/2017)

The municipal plenary session of the City council of Archena has approved with the votes in favor of all the political groups, except the abstention of Earning Archena, the adhesion to the Levantine manifesto by the water, that has presented / displayed the Central Union of Irrigators of the Tajo-Segura Aqueduct, which, among other points, defends guaranteeing the durability of the Tajo-Segura aqueduct, putting into practice the measures included in the study of the Irrigators' Union or the urgent need to achieve the maximum possible production objective of the existing desalination plants, modernizing the infrastructures of the irrigations, as well as to execute the necessary hydraulic works to guarantee the access to the water in conditions of equality.

Mayor Patricia Fernandez has made it clear that "on behalf of the entire municipality I want to claim and make our own all the sections that are cited in that manifesto for considering them more than essential to defend the survival of our garden and, ultimately, also our means of life and our future. "

In this same plenary session, the motion submitted by the Popular Group regarding the installation of mobile telephony antennas in urban population areas has also been approved unanimously, including the amendments presented by Ganar Archena.

Specifically, the motion says that the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and the Digital Agenda will be urged to regulate the installation of mobile telephony antennas in spaces of urban population, being expressly forbidden the assembly, placement or location of networks, facilities and infrastructures in general. purpose is to allow, facilitate or extend this service to less than 450 linear meters of any of the points occupied by buildings or land considered sensitive, such as schools, sports, places of concentration of people, etc.

In the same motion, the City Council insists that the current General Telecommunications Law prevents municipalities from restricting or preventing the installation of this type of infrastructure, since the local Administration has no competence to do so.

"Despite all this, the Archena PP will continue to demonstrate against the installation of such antennas in sensitive areas of population, already mentioned," defends the motion.

Regarding the addition amendments to the agreement of this approved motion, it can be summarized that the City Council will make an updated map of the antennas installed in the municipality and urge the CARM to legislate a Regional Law on this matter and that contemplates the municipal autonomy to intervene in this issue.
