Work on the renovation of the main access road to Archena begins. Work on Mario Spreáfico Avenue includes reinforcement of the pavement, renovation of sidewalks, improvement of road safety, renovation of public lighting, street furniture and Signs (31/03/2017)

The works for the reinforcement of the firm, the renovation of sidewalks and the improvement of the road safety in the T-554 highway, which corresponds to the urban section of the RM-554, the current avenue Mario Spreáfico de Archena, have begun.

The Director General of Highways, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, visited the works this morning along with the mayor of Archena, Patricia Fernández, and stressed that "these works, which has been tendered by the City Council and financed by the Community, will allow the integral renovation of this avenue , Which supports more than 1,786,000 displacements annually and is the main access road to the town from the RM-554, which connects the municipality with the A-30 (Cartagena-Albacete) dual carriageway.

The works consist of improving the road safety of the road in a stretch of 500 meters that includes from the variant of Archena to the iron bridge over the river Segura, which is the road connecting with the highway and joins Archena with the populations of Valle de Ricote, via the MU-522 road, to the town center, whose firm is deteriorated due to the high intensity of vehicles.

They include the complete conditioning of the avenue, by means of the reinforcement of firm with hot asphalt agglomerate, to provide the best conditions of safety and comfort for the users of the road, for which will be placed some 6,000 square meters of asphalt agglomerate.

The sidewalks, which are currently deformed over time, will also be renovated, and about 2,500 square meters of prefabricated concrete pavement, similar to the one in the surrounding streets, and 1,350 linear meters of curb will be installed.

Public lighting will be renewed with the installation of 40 8-meter-high streetlamps with energy-saving led lamps, and the urban furniture and all horizontal and vertical signage and the services affected by the works will be restored.

During work, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of June, it will not be necessary to close any lane to traffic and any deviations that may occur will be signaled conveniently.

The works are financed by a subsidy of 250,000 euros from the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure to the City of Archena, which assumes the execution of the works.

Fernández Lladó said that "this action is a priority for the municipality because it considerably improves one of its main accesses, and highlights the commitment of the regional government with the municipality of Archena and the improvement and conservation of the regional network of roads, which counts With more than 3,000 kilometers. "
