Nearly 3,000 drivers checked during the weekend

During this weekend and check the various devices deployed alcohol and drugs, the Traffic Department of the Region of Murcia has controlled a total of 2,838 drivers, of which 56 yielded positive results in alcohol (1.97% ).

Among these he has been arrested six drivers for doing so under the influence of alcohol, which have been brought to justice, and the rest (50) have been reported by administrative offense (BAC) before the Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Murcia.

The offense of reckless driving with undisguised contempt for the lives of others is enshrined in the Penal Code and can be punished with sentences ranging from prison of two to five years, a fine of 12 to 24 months and deprivation of right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds from 6 to 10 years.

Meanwhile, driving under the influence of alcohol and in any case, with rates above 0.60 mg / l.

alcohol in exhaled air has identified alternative prison sentences of three to six months, a fine of 6 to 12 months or work for the benefit of the community of 31 to 90 days, and the suspension of the right to drive for longer time 1 year and up to 4 years.

The same penalty corresponds to driving under the influence of drugs.

Also, driving motor vehicle with alcohol rates above 0.25 mg / L (0.15 mg / l, novice and professional drivers) and up to 0.60 mg / l, since the last reform of the Road Safety Act, may be accompanied by a financial penalty of 500-1000 euros, and the loss of four to six points.

Similarly we act when the driver ingested drugs or other prohibited substances, which may determine either an alleged crime against road safety punished with the same penalties as in the case of alcohol, either an administrative complaint, which is sanctioned in the latter if 1,000 euro fine and the loss of 6 points.

In all cases the affected vehicles are immobilized with special devices that prevent their movement until their drivers are able to continue their journey, once they have lowered the blood alcohol level or missing the presence of drugs or take over other drivers enabled and previous appropriate tests.

The Civil Guard reiterates its message to those drivers who recklessly and reckless, despite campaigns and warnings from the General Directorate of Traffic, driving after drinking or taking drugs, remembering that, notwithstanding the systematic controls regular preventive or special, given the proximity of summer and the considerable increase in movements involved both long journey to the vacation spots as especially short distance derived from leisure activities and festive, performing the required tests will increase alcohol and drugs to all drivers that are reported by the commission of offenses, involvement in accidents or those where consumption is detected in the course of other surveillance and inspection to be carried out, in order to raise awareness citizens of the incompatibility of these substances with driving given the loss of reflexes and abilities to control vehicles pose, and thereby ensure road safety on our roads, avoiding, in this way, the production of road accidents and serious considerations that these entail, appealing to the use of collective transport or alternative formulas for these displacements are not getting behind the wheel in these conditions, especially by younger drivers.
