Premian to Archena for energy excellence of their pool, which optimize researchers UPCT (02/03/2016)

Awards Murcia to Energy Excellence, awarded by the Community, have distinguished themselves in the category of Performance or project, the City of Murcia for control actions, optimization and research conducted by researchers at the Polytechnic University Cartagena (UPCT).

Thanks to an agreement between the Polytechnic and archenero Consistory and as part of a doctoral thesis on Renewable Energy, the swimming pool is serving as a laboratory for setting up an innovative instrumentation system and climate control, to contribute to scientific progress international and to optimize the energy consumption of the installation, which uses a biomass boiler and solar panels to heat water.

"On the evolving energy demand in heated pools there is a great lack of knowledge," says José Pablo Delgado, author of the doctoral thesis directed by José Ramón García Cascales, the research group Modelling of Thermal and Energy Systems.

Data from the pool of Archena have served to validate the first-mathematical physicist of international expert Mirza M. Shah model.

The pool heating is permanently Sensorized by 29 probes, updated information for managing the installation remotely through a computer or mobile device.

"We are now working on predictive climate control, to anticipate the peaks and valleys of solar thermal energy production by the weather forecast accordingly and adapt the use of the biomass boiler," Delgado says.

"The aim is to optimize energy consumption, saving financial costs and CO2 emissions," he adds.
