The Community will solve the evacuation of the waters in the lower area of ​​the urban area of ​​Archena (26/10/2018)

The Community has committed to the City of Archena to carry out a work for the evacuation of rainwater and those from the main ditch, with the aim of preventing possible flooding, flooding, humidity and odors in the area low of the urban helmet.

The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Angel del Amor, received from the mayor of the municipality, Patricia Fernandez, a previous report of actions to be carried out in it, where "the existing problems in the transit zone of the ditch and a range of solutions are offered that the regional government will have to study to carry out the most appropriate ".

In addition to the corresponding hydraulic studies, an inspection of the current state of the pipeline will be made to check the possible infiltration problems that may exist.

"Once this analysis is completed, the corresponding project that will be put out to tender in the first semester of 2019 will be drafted," said the counselor.

He also reported that "among the solutions provided is the realization of registry boxes to maintain and clean the channel itself, and thus avoid stagnant water and the problems that this may cause."

The fine lemon is consolidated as the most cultivated citrus in the Region

On the other hand, the counselor went to a company dedicated to the production and marketing of fine lemon in the municipality.

This crop is located as the most generated citrus in the region with an area close to 18,000 hectares, "which is 68.4 percent of all lemon trees," said Del Amor.

The 'fino' harvesting campaign that begins in the last third of the month of August and lasts until the end of March-April, is characterized by an entry into harvest when there is no competition with other varieties.

This year a harvest of more than 522,000 tons is anticipated (which means 80.2 percent of the total of lemons) and "at the national level it is estimated that there will be a production of 920,000 tons, of which 57 percent will be lemons fine Murcia, "the counselor informed.

He also stressed that "last year's export data exceeded 401,000 tons, with a market value of 415 million euros."

The lemon is the priority crop in the Region of Murcia with a planted area of ​​26,000 hectares, which represents 68 percent of the total citrus.
